A 16-year-old died after a shooting at a house party in Oakley Saturday night.

According to the Oakley Police Department, the shooting occurred at around 11:12 p.m. on the 400 block of Shannon Way.

3 others were also shot and were taken to John Muir in Walnut Creek. Their injuries were non-life-threatening.

Officers were already at the residence 30 minutes before the shooting after receiving complaints of the loud house party.

Police were in contact with the 18-year-old female resident of the home about the complaint. She was trying to shut the party down but was unsuccessful.

She declined help from the police.

However, according to a witness, a group of 20-30 kids showed up at the front door trying to get inside but was unable to enter. Instead, they entered through the backyard’s side gate.

Shortly after, screaming was heard as 5-6 shots were fired in front of the residence.

Police later found evidence of 5 9mm shell casings in front of the house.

Police did not provide any information about the suspect at this time. The suspect was able to flee the scene and remains at large.

Anyone who has information about this shooting is asked to contact the Oakley Police Department at 925-625-8060.
