1 dead in Walnut Creek crash, driver arrested

Walnut Creek police are investigating the deadly crash that resulted in 1 dead on Saturday morning. 

The crash happened just before 2 a.m. near North Main Street and Pine Avenue.

According to Walnut Creek police, an officer was at a nearby parking lot when they heard a loud collision. 

Officers arrived on the scene and found a pickup truck that collided with 2 pedestrians who were walking on the sidewalk. The truck also hit a cement pillar. 

One person was declared dead at the scene, while the other was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. 

Police identified the driver as Briana Day, 28, of Concord. Day is arrested for a DUI charge and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. 

The victims’ identities have not been released at this time.
