1 min read

Two children died and a third was rescued after falling into a pool at a daycare in South San Jose.

According to police, authorities were called at around 9:05 a.m. for a welfare check at the home in the 1000 block of Fleetwood Drive, where several children reportedly fell into a pool at Happy Happy Home Daycare.

Emergency medical crews were called, and three children were taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Two were pronounced dead and the third child is now non-life-threatening.

On the daycare’s website, the owner Nina says she has two decades of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development. The daycare describes itself as a “safe, nurturing, indoor and outdoor environment.”

Per county protocol for all child deaths, the San Jose police homicide unit and the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office will investigate the deaths.
