1 min read

3 dead and 2 others were severely injured after an Amtrak train and car collided in Brentwood, Sunday afternoon.

The collision happened around 1 p.m. in the 3000 block of Orwood Road.

According to East Contra Costa Fire Department, the 2 survivors, including a child, suffered from serious injuries. One was airlifted to John Muir while the other was transported by ground.

Authorities say accidents happen at least once or twice yearly because this train crossing is without a traffic guard.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
