Barricaded suspect caused major traffic on I-80 near Richmond

A suspect police were pursuing barricaded themselves in their vehicle on Interstate 80 on Sunday afternoon. 

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident resulted in a full closure of all lanes on I-80 as law enforcement responded. 

CHP says the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office was pursuing the suspect, and a felony stop occurred on the freeway. 

During the stop, the suspect was non-compliant and refused to get out of the vehicle.

The suspect was taken into custody by sheriff’s deputies. Traffic was backed up in the area. All lanes were reopened as of 2 p.m. Drivers were told to expect delays.
