Bay Area freeway pedestrian struck and killed

A pedestrian was hit and killed by a car on Interstate 880 on Sunday night. 

According to California Highway Patrol, the crash happened on I-880 southbound just north of 29th Avenue. 

CHP was dispatched to the crash scene at 11:13 p.m.

Officers found the victim lying unconscious in the left lane. 

They were taken to the hospital where they reportedly died. 

The driver of the car involved cooperated with authorities, CHP said. Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor.
