Bystander injured in Lake Merritt shooting

A shooting near Lake Merritt in Oakland Monday afternoon left one female innocent bystander injured. 

According to the Oakland Police Department, the shooting happened in the 1900 block of Madison Street shortly before 12:30 p.m.

Police said they received several calls reporting a shooting. 

At the scene, officers found a female victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Investigation reveals the victim was an innocent bystander. 

The shooting victim was transported to the hospital and is in critical condition.
