California Release Body Cam Footage Of Homicide Suspect’s Death

1 min read

A police department in California on Friday released body camera footage that showed the final moments of a homicide suspect who died from a fatal shot by a police officer.

Oakland resident Joshua James Gloria, 34, was shot and killed on March 24 after he attempted to fire on Fremont police officer Brian Burch following a car chase.

Police records show that Burch, who has been on the force for six years, was working traffic enforcement when a stolen vehicle allegedly used in an armed robbery in San Francisco activated the department’s license plate reader nearby.

Burch later found the vehicle parked at a shopping center’s parking lot. He asked Gloria to pull over. However, the suspect took off on foot and opened fire on Burch, prompting the police officer to open fire. The suspect was struck by a bullet and died, while the officer did not sustain any injuries.
