The Alameda County Fire Department fought a car fire that has burned 58 acres that started on Monday. The fire was at westbound Interstate 580 and Eden Canyon Road in Castro Valley.

As of 5:45 p.m., forward progress on the fire has been stopped and is 30 percent contained. According to ACFD, no structures were damaged, and no one was injured.

People living west of Schaefer Ranch Road were told to prepare for evacuation if the fire continued to grow.

The City of Dublin used the Shannon Community Center at 11600 Shannon Avenue as an evacuation center and family reunification zone.
