Carjacking suspect killed after police shooting in Newark

A carjacking suspect died after a shooting occurred on Thursday afternoon. 

According to the Newark Police Department, around 3:20 p.m., officers received a report about a carjacking suspect who is seen at Mowry Avenue in Newark. 

Newark Police, Alameda County Major Crimes Task Force, and the Fremont Police Department spotted the suspect vehicle on the 39000 block of Cedar Boulevard. 

They conducted a high-risk stop and a shooting occurred. 

Newark Police said that a total of two suspects were hit by gunfire. One of the suspects died and the second was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

No other involved officers or bystanders were injured.
