Christina Aguilera speaks out against strict legal arrangement set for Britney Spears

Britney Spears found an ally in her fight: Christina Aguilera.

Remarks made during the conservatorship hearing were faced head-on by Christina who wrote a statement on Instagram last June 28. Christina and Britney both gained popularity on the Mickey Mouse Club and in the early 2000s, they rose to become famous pop stars globally.

The singer praised Britney for slamming the harsh legal system she claims had been controlling her for the past years.

“These past few days I’ve been thinking about Britney and everything she is going through,” part of Christina’s statement read. “It is unacceptable that any woman, or human, wanting to be in control of their own destiny might not be allowed to live life as they wish.”

The singer recognized how her fellow performer must feel like “to be silenced, ignored, bullied or denied support” by the people around her. She defined it as “the most depleting, devastating and demeaning thing imaginable.”

“The harmful mental and emotional damage this can take on a human spirit is nothing to be taken lightly,” she said. “Every woman must have the right to her own body, her own reproductive system, her own privacy, her own space, her own healing and her own happiness.”

Britney broke her silence and said she was not allowed to get rid of an IUD, along with the other claims she said in her testimony. She said the conservatorship can be compared to sex trafficking as she was “enslaved” by her father and Jamie spears, the co-conservator.

Christina said she understands the level of fame Britney also experiences, even if she is not informed of every bit of Britney’s legal battle.”The conviction and desperation of this plea for freedom leads me to believe that this person I once knew has been living without compassion or decency from those in control. To a woman who has worked under conditions and pressure unimaginable to most, I promise you she deserves all of the freedom possible to live her happiest life,” she said.

“My heart goes out to Britney. She deserves all the TRUE love and support in the world,” Christina added.
