1 min read

Officials said that all eastbound lanes at Interstate 80 in San Pablo were closed temporarily Sunday morning following a four-vehicle accident that left one dead, San Francisco Chronicle reported.

California Highway Patrol spokesperson Officer Karsant said that the transit van driver heading east was traversing the I-80 near San Pablo Dam Road. He crashed into the center wall division after he lost control of the vehicle at about 6:14 in the morning.

Authorities said the van was placed to rest and faced approaching traffic. It was stranded by three other vehicles.

Karsant said a man in his mid-20s died. Two others sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the hospital.

The CHP said all eastbound lanes of I-80 have opened to traffic again at 9:40 in the morning.

The accident, meanwhile, is still being investigated.
