Father arrested for allegedly abducting child

A 35-year-old man from Berkeley was arrested after he allegedly abducted his child from the mother. 

On Monday, around 10 p.m., Berkeley police notified Hercules officers that a Berkeley resident who is in Hercules had abducted his 3-year-old child. 

Officers confirmed the biological mother had been granted sole custody of the child. 

Hercules police said they were requested to conduct a welfare check for the child and to detain the father if he was located at a specified address. 

After contact, the father was arrested without incident and the child was found safe and uninjured.
