Heavy smoke spotted near Port of Oakland

Heavy smoke can be seen in Oakland after a fire broke out near the city’s port. 

Oakland fire crews were dispatched to 1101 Embarcadero West due to a fire at Schnitzer Steel. 

According to the Oakland Fire Department, the fire is now contained. 

There is no major threat in the area. 

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District is investigating the blaze.
