Investigation launched after dead body found in Oakland

The Oakland Police Department is investigating a dead body found Monday morning. 

According to OPD, officers were called to the 1400 block of 5th Avenue at about 9:30 a.m. “for the report of a person down.” 

Police arrived and found an unresponsive man. 

OPD’s homicide division is investigating the death. 

Police are waiting to identify the victim until his family is notified.
