1 min read

The San Leandro Police Department is investigating a shooting outside the Kaiser campus at 2500 Merced Street. The incident happened just before noon, according to an alert sent by SLPD.

Certain hospital areas are on “lockdown” so the police can collect evidence. According to the police, this is not an active shooter situation.

A guard with GardaWorld security was at the Kaiser Hospital in San Leandro collecting money. The police said the guard was leaving the hospital when the suspect shot him in the torso and stole the money bag.

The guard is in critical condition.

Multiple witnesses saw the shooting, and SLPD is investigating. Surveillance footage and other videos are currently being reviewed.

Police say that one suspect is currently at large. SLPD does not know if more suspects were involved.
