Man dead after being struck by garbage truck in San Jose

The San Jose Police Department responded to a deadly collision involving a pedestrian and a garbage truck on Tuesday morning. 

At around 3:23 a.m. in the 40 block of S. Jackson Avenue near Interstate 680 and Alum Rock Avenue, police were dispatched after reports of a collision. 

The pedestrian, an adult male, was declared dead at the scene.

The name of the victim has not been released at this time.

The incident happened in the parking lot of Jackson Square. 

The truck driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigators.
