Man dies after car crashes on CA-84 in Newark

A person died after a car crash Sunday afternoon on the westbound lanes of CA-84 in Newark. 

According to the California Highway Patrol’s incident log, the crash happened around 1:22 p.m. in the area of Ardenwood Historic Farm and CA-84 where the car spun and crashed. 

CHP said a blue Honda sedan lost control in the #2 westbound lane and crashed into the center divide of the highway. 

Medical crews attempted CPR on the driver, but he died on the scene. 

The driver was identified as a 29-year-old Hayward man. 

Alcohol and drugs are not considered to be a factor in the crash, according to CHP.
