Man who brandished gun at woman over parking conflict arrested

Authorities reported an incident involving a man who pointed a gun at a woman on Sunday as a parking spot conflict transpired at a Menlo Park Safeway.

A report of a man who pointed a gun at a victim was responded upon by the Menlo Park police officers at around 5:53 in the morning. The incident happened while at 525 El Camino Real, specifically in a Safeway parking lot.

According to reports, the woman asked the suspect to adjust his parking after seeing that he is occupying two parking slots.

The suspect allegedly brandished a gun at the victim as he instructed her to leave the area.

The woman moved away from the suspect and informed the police about the incident.

Officers responded to the report and found the suspect inside of his car.

A loaded handgun was spotted by the police near the front passenger seat as they negotiated with the suspect.

One of the officers positioned at the car’s passenger’s side and recovered the gun as the suspect talked to the other police on the driver’s side.

The man was held by the police. It was later found out that his firearm was not registered, KRON4 reported.

The suspect was identified as Barton Karl Lunsford, 58, of Mountain View, who was arrested over possession of a loaded gun, threatening, and pointing of firearm at an individual.
