Minor arrested in Rio Nido homicide

A minor was arrested in the Rio Nido stabbing that killed a man Sunday. 

According to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office, after 9 p.m. on Sunday, dispatchers received a report of a fight in the 14000 block of Canyon 1 Road. On the scene, deputies found a man with multiple stab wounds. 

Officers performed medical aid and shortly, emergency medical personnel arrived. However, the man was declared dead at the scene. 

The victim was identified as Jose Villavicencio, 41, and deputies discovered there had been a fight between the victim and the suspect. 

The suspect was a minor and was detained by deputies. He was later arrested and booked into juvenile hall for murder. 

Because the suspect is a minor, there will be no further information shared at this time. 

Violent Crimes Detectives with Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office are investigating this case.
