One person died in a vehicle collision in Oakland’s Rockridge neighborhood after fleeing a robbery attempt.

According to the Oakland Police Department, the incident occurred on the 5900 block of Buena Vista Avenue. When police arrived at the scene, they found one person deceased.

Investigation reveals that the dead body was a suspect in an attempted robbery that happened earlier in the day.

Officers said that two suspects were trying to take property from a victim’s vehicle. The victim was nearby and saw the pair before attempting to take their property back from the thieves.

Both suspects fled the scene in a car and hit a pole. OPD believes the man died on impact and the second suspect fled the scene and has not yet been found.

This scene is still active. At this time, OPD believes both suspects are connected to multiple crimes throughout Oakland.
