Police are currently investigating a collision that involved a vehicle and a pedestrian.
According to the San Jose Police Department, the crash happened near the corner of Meridian and Foxworthy avenues before 6 p.m. Police say the pedestrian is in a local hospital with major injuries.
The driver remained on the scene and is cooperating with police.
The road near the intersection is closed for investigation.
Police advise the public to take extra care to look out for pedestrians, especially since darkness comes earlier now.
Pedestrians are also encouraged to cross streets in well-lit areas to be as visible as possible on the road.
