2 mins read

A Piedmont, California family member lost their lives in a tragic road mishap on Sunday about 60 miles southwest of Minneapolis-St. Paul., Minn.

Confirmed dead were John St. John, 54; Jill St. John, 56, of Piedmont; and two more children aged 13 and nine. The Le Sueur County Sheriff Office said the victims were killed following a collision involving two vehicles at County Road 15 and County Road 22.

While the sheriff’s office did not name the children involved, the KTVU and Piedmont Exedra said that the 13-year-old was identified as Claire, St. John’s daughter; and the 9-year-old was recognized as the family’s relative.

“The St. Johns’ 15-year-old son Ryan was seriously injured and, along with two other passengers, Jane Wooster Emerson, 41, and another young child was taken to the hospital,” according to Exedra.

Sheriff’s officials said at 11:30 p.m., deputies have responded to the intersection where the collision between a 2012 Ford Expedition and a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado transpired.

Also from California, the three others aboard Ford, including two kids, were brought to the hospital, the sheriff’s officials said.

41-year-old Le Sueur, Minn., who drove the Chevrolet, was also rushed to the hospital.

According to a KTVU report, the family was heading to a family cabin.

The accident is under investigation, but officials said they are not considering liquor to have caused the crash, SFGate reported.

One of the victims, Jill, worked as a marriage and family therapist based in Piedmont, according to her online bio. She served at Kaiser’s Chemical Dependency Program in Oakland for six years. Claire, on the other hand, was reported by KTVU to have attended Piedmont Middle School.
