Recology Truck Catches Fire, Closes Down Route For Hours

1 min read

A Recology garbage truck caught fire at Oak and Ashbury streets near the Golden Gate Park panhandle in San Francisco a bit after 3:00 p.m., causing the Muni 33 bus line to be rerouted on Sunday afternoon, firefighters and SFMTA officials said.

Burning Truck

San Francisco firefighters were able to respond quickly to the scene of the fire and put it out before it spread. However, they still had to pry the vehicle open to ensure nothing inside was burning that could threaten residents.

Firefighters and Recology workers spent hours carefully fixing up the scene and removing smoldering trash on the truck before they could safely move it.

“Thank you for your patience while we navigate this unprecedented difficult time,” VTA officials said in a post warning drivers there would be a delay in the area.
