California Representative Maxine Waters on Monday urged Democrats to launch an investigation on President Donald Trump after he leaves office on January 2021.
The Democrat lawmaker called Trump’s actions during his four years of presidency “simply unconscionable” and “criminal in some cases.” She also said the president has put the country in danger by undermining democracy.
“I don’t think that can be overlooked,” Waters said during an interview on MSNBC.
She urged Democrats to “send a message across the world” by launching a probe into what Trump has done during his presidential term.
Waters believe President-elect Joe Biden would not open an investigation but pushed that President Trump should be investigated. She also noted that she would support an investigation of Trump, Newsmax reported.
“I think that the president of the United States should be investigated. And we should send a message across the world that we will not tolerate the undermining of our democracy in the way this president has done. So again, I don’t know what President-elect Biden would do, but I certainly would support investigating the president,” Waters said.
