Road crash in Concord Willow Pass left 7 injured

A dreadful road mishap on early Sunday morning in Concord’s Willow Pass Road left seven people injured.

One of the vehicles involved in the crash smoked from its side while another suffered warped debris, KPIX5 reported.

Information on the accident was posted by Concord Police through Twitter, as it also shared photos from the accident scene at around 2:00 in the morning.

The report of the crash came in at 12:17 in the morning on Sunday at Willow Pass Road and Port Chicago Highway intersection. Two vehicles were involved in the crash – one going northbound on Port Chicago westbound and another was heading westbound on Willow Pass Road.

Seven people in total were left injured. Three of them suffered from critical injuries and were airlifted to John Muir Hospital and the rest were rushed by ambulance to hospitals nearby.

As of early Sunday, no immediate updates were available.

The investigation on the crash continues, focusing on the Willow Pass Road and Port Chicago Highway which were ordered closed overnight.

The involvement of intoxicating alcohol or drugs in the accident is yet to be determined.
