Road rage on Sunday afternoon claimed the lives of a 23-year-old pregnant Long Beach resident and her still unborn child. Three cars have crashed in the said accident.

Two of the involved individuals — a man and a 10-year-old boy, were also injured.

The woman and the 10-year-old boy were aboard a GMC pickup truck that was traversing southbound on Long Beach Boulevard just before noon, the Long Beach Police Department said.

Miguel Larios, 26, who is also from Long Beach, operated the pickup. He was involved in road rage with the second vehicle’s driver before he collided with the third car, a 2004 Toyota Corolla.

According to the police, the Toyota Corolla was trailing away from the Long Beach Boulevard’s curb located south of Mountain View Street.

Larios then failed to control his vehicle, police said, leading it to crash with a parked and vacant pickup close to 52nd Street.

Larios and those aboard his vehicle were brought to the hospital after the accident was responded to by the Long Beach Fire Department.

The pregnant woman, who was not identified by the police, incurred injuries and eventually died. Larios, as well as the 10-year-old boy, meanwhile, sustained injuries.

Larios was arrested and is facing a couple of charges of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. He is also charged with driving under the influence as well as child endangerment. A $200, 000 bail was set for him, SFGate reported.
