An Asian man in San Francisco was stabbed multiple times on Saturday night by an unknown assailant in the city’s Bayview neighborhood, the San Francisco Police Department said.

Asian Man Stabbed

Authorities identified the victim as a 53-year-old Asian man. They said he was walking on Exeter Street at around 10:30 p.m. when the suspect approached him from behind, demanded money, and showed off a knife.

Immediately, the criminal stabbed the suspect multiple times before stealing his backpack, got into a getaway vehicle, and fled the scene, said police.

Officers who first arrived at the scene said they discovered the victim with several stab wounds. Authorities said there was no evidence to support the incident was a hate crime at this time.

The SFPD is urging the public to provide any useful information that could lead to the identification and arrest of the suspect responsible for the attack, ABC7 News reported.
