Santa Rosa teen in critical condition after crosswalk accident

A teenage boy is in critical condition after being struck by an SUV while walking in a crosswalk in Santa Rosa on Thursday morning. 

According to the police, the 13-year-old boy was crossing the street in the 4600 block of Hoen Avenue at around 8:40 a.m., when a Honda CR-V hit him. 

The driver, a man in his 30s, has been cooperating with the authorities. 

Police said there were no signs that the man was driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol. 

The boy has severe injuries and is transferred to a children’s hospital in the East Bay. 

Investigators are interviewing witnesses and processing the scene. Police said that more information will be released as it is gathered.
