School janitor faces 60-year jail term after hiding camera in girls’ restroom

A 60-year imprisonment awaits a man who once served as a janitor at a Florida high school after he was found to have hidden a camera in the girls’ restroom.

Court records show that 31-year-old Derremy Jerrell Walker was sentenced on Tuesday in Orlando federal court for convictions in June of a couple counts of using or trying to use minors to create sexually explicit media materials.

“Mr. Walker did more than just produce horror; he stole the innocence and trust of these young victims,” said FBI Tampa Division Special Agent in Charge Michael McPherson.

According to investigators, in 2019, the suspect was contracted as a janitor at Oviedo High School.

Two girls, both 15, have found a cellphone with the recording on. It was placed under the sink in a bathroom stall for students, in an attempt not to be discovered.

They reported the incident to the school administrators, who alerted the police.

It was later found out through forensic analysis that the phone was also placed by the suspect in a similar place two days prior to the girls’ discovery. A total of 12 students have been captured on video, FOX News reported.

It was also found by the investigators that the suspect had also positioned the phone in the faculty bathroom of the same school.
