Suspected DUI crash kills one in Cloverdale

One was killed and another was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence on Saturday afternoon. 

According to the California Highway Patrol, around 3:47 p.m. on Saturday, there was a crash at Geyserville Avenue just south of Zanzi Lane. Police received reports that a vehicle crashed into a tree and one passenger was thrown out of the vehicle. 

Two other occupants of the car ran away from the scene. 

Fire crews, the highway patrol, Sonoma County Sheriff, and the Cloverdale Police Department responded to the scene and found the ejected passenger. The victim suffered from major injuries and was declared dead at the scene. 

Two men were seen walking on Asti and Dutcher Creek roads and police confirmed they were the missing driver and passenger from the crash. 

The driver was arrested before being taken to the hospital to be medically cleared. The driver is charged with felony driving under the influence, hit and run, vehicular manslaughter, and delaying or resisting arrest.
