A teenage boy died in a pedestrian collision Wednesday morning.
According to the San Jose Police Department, shortly before 1 a.m., a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian occurred in the 2400 block of Rinconada Drive.
The deceased victim was later identified as Justin Estira, 15.
A GoFundMe has been set up to help the family.
“Justin was a bright, funny, kind, well-loved kid that brought so much joy to those who knew him. He was part of a close, loving family and was adored by his young brother, Joshua. He has many friends in the Willow Glen High School community that are heartbroken with this news,” the GoFundMe reads.
Estira was a student at Willow Glen High School, the San Jose Unified School District confirms.
The district is providing additional counselors to WGH on Wednesday and Thursday.
“This morning, we received word that a Willow Glen High student was killed in an accident overnight. The San José Police Department has not released additional details at this time.
We have additional counselors at WGH this morning for any student or employee who would like to speak with someone about the situation. Students may go to P102 or let an administrator or teacher know they would like to speak with someone. Counselors will also be available tomorrow.
This year has been extremely challenging for our community, and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the student.”
