Authorities reported a shooting spree that left at least three people dead and two others injured early Sunday outside a sports bar in Texas.
According to Police Chief William McManus, the shooting happened before 3:30 in the morning at Boom Boom Sports Bar in San Antonio, FOX News reported.
A fight between two people transpired inside the sports bar, police said, and furthered into the parking lot. The chief said the bar’s owner was trying to close his business, which was running beyond operating times when the fight broke out.
Outside the bar, a man got a long gun from his vehicle and began shooting, hurting at least five individuals, said McManus.
“He [the suspect] started shooting in the air on his way back to the bar,” he said. “He encountered many of the people in the parking lot. At the end of that encounter, five people were shot. Two are now dead.”
The chief said the suspect is still on the loose.
Among those who sustained gunshots were a couple of women and three men. A man and a woman were declared dead at the scene, the chief said.
Based on San Antonio’s KSAT-TV, shooting victims were identified by their family members as Mauro Rodriguez, 26, and April Rodriguez, 32.
28-year-old Dan Martinez, the third victim, has lost his life.
“My son just tried to break it up and he didn’t know anybody and somebody just started shooting,” the victim’s father told the media outlet.
Two other victims sustained serious injuries and are being treated in a hospital. The incident, meanwhile, is under investigation.
