1 min read

Thousands evacuate from South Lake Tahoe as the entire tourist resort city received evacuation orders as wildfire nears the large freshwater lake of Lake Tahoe, situated between California and Nevada.

CAL FIRE reports that Monday morning, the Caldor Fire had burned through 177,260 acres. By the afternoon, flames had entered Tahoe Basin, around Lower Echo Lake.

“This is a systematic evacuation, one neighborhood at a time,” South Lake Tahoe police Lt. Travis Cabral said on social media. “I am asking you as our community to please remain calm.”
