Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence has examined positive for COVID-19, his coach Dabo Swinney confirmed.

“Trevor has authorized us this evening to announce that he has tested positive for COVID-19 and is now in isolation,” Swinney stated in a press release. “He is doing well with mild symptoms but will not be available for this week’s game against Boston College.”

Lawrence issued his personal assertion on social media, saying “the only thing that hurts is missing an opportunity to be with my teammates this weekend and play the game I love.”

Lawrence is arguably the most important star in school athletics and has led the No. 1-ranked Tigers to an undefeated begin to the season. He can be a Heisman Trophy contender.

“This is the safest environment that we can have our guys,” he advised ESPN. “Without a doubt … as opposed to letting these guys all leave and go home and be in these environments where they’re not getting tested … every single week.”
