Trump Administration Invites Pfizer, Moderna to COVID-19 Vaccine Summit

1 min read

Before transitioning out, the Trump administration scheduled to meet with vaccine manufacturers, drug distributors, and government officials in a COVID-19 Vaccine Summit next week that would be held at the White House.

The invitation set the date of the meeting for December 8 and includes President Donald Trump, Vice President Mike Pence, and several private-sector executives. The gathering would take place only a few days before the vaccine reviews of Moderna and Pfizer by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Multiple industry officials said that the summit was created to urge the FDA to hasten its review of the experimental vaccines and issue its authorization to start the distribution of the treatment across the nation, NewsMax reported.

Invitations were sent to Pfizer, Moderna, and several other drug distributors, pharmacies, and logistics companies. The list includes McKesson, Walgreens, CVS Health, United Parcel Service, and FedEx. However, the involved companies did not immediately respond to requests for comments regarding the event.
