The suspect, identified as 62-year-old Vy Thac Nguyen from San Jose, was placed into San Mateo County Jail for alleged commercial burglary and embezzlement.

On Friday, police officers responded to the credit union’s main branch at 350 Convention Way after reports of several cash thefts from ATMs in Redwood City and San Mateo.

Police quickly conducted an investigation and discovered the suspect stole a total of about $145,000 from Redwood City and about $47,000 from San Mateo.

Authorities believe Nguyen conducted the crimes between May 16 and 18. They said he used a fake work order to access and open the machines, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

Detectives were able to acquire a search warrant for Nguyen, his car, and his home in San Jose. Police said they discovered sufficient evidence inside the residence to connect the suspect with the crimes.
