Woman beheaded in San Carlos, suspect arrested

A woman was beheaded by a sword in San Carlos. The tragic incident happened on Laurel Street and Magnolia Avenue at around 11:50 a.m.

According to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect, an adult male, has been arrested for murder. 

Authorities identified the victim as a 25-year-old woman who had two juvenile children. 

San Mateo County authorities say that the suspect and the victim knew each other, and this incident is believed to be an isolated case. 

Lt. Eamonn Allen of the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said that after killing the woman, the suspect walked two blocks away from the scene and was detained. When asked, the suspect does not know where the children are. 

“We can confirm that a stabbing instrument was used in the commission of the crime and that the weapon is outstanding,” the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. “The suspect is known to the victim and this is believed to be an isolated incident.

”The public was asked to avoid the area of 300 and 400 blocks of Laurel Street. As of 2:25 p.m., authorities said there is no threat to the community.
