Clubhouse CEO Denies Report of Breach, User Data was not Leaked

Joining Facebook and Linkedin, a report earlier this week states that Clubhouse has joined the band where personal user data has been leaked.

Cyber News reported a SQL database where users’ IDs, names, usernames, Twitter and Instagram handles, and follower counts were posted to an online hacker forum. According to the report, no sensitive user information, such as credit card numbers, was leaked.

Clubhouse didn’t immediately address the request for more information from the media but CEO Paul Davidson said that the platform had not suffered a data break. “No, This is misleading and false, it is a clickbait article, we were not hacked. The data referred to was all public profile information from our app. So the answer to that is a definitive ‘no.’”

Last week, Cyber News also reported that personal data from 500 million LinkedIn users had been scraped and posted online. LinkedIn responded and said that no private member account was included in the leak.

The LinkedIn leaks came after personal data from 533 million Facebook users were leaked online for free. The Facebook leaks included the user’s phone number, birthdates, location, email addresses, and full names.
