Authorities confirmed that three children, all aged below 8, were discovered dead and their mother was found with injuries in an apartment in Merced County Wednesday, KPIX 5 reported.
The woman’s injuries are believed to be self-inflicted, they said.
According to a statement released by the Sheriff’s Office, deputies were deployed shortly after 2 in the afternoon to a resident on Brice Street in Le Grand.
The location is a separate community with about 1, 800 population. It sits about 12 miles east of Merced.
They intended to check the welfare of the occupants and discovered that three kids were dead.
The statement added that the wounded woman was brought to the hospital. However, it did not provide details on her health.
There is also no immediate information as to the cause of the children’s death, or if it were linked to the woman.
Authorities said that the case is being investigated as a probable murder-suicide try.
