A surveillance video captures the deadly shooting of a woman in Oakland’s Little Saigon on Sunday. The incident happened after 2:00 p.m. near 5th Avenue and East 11th Street.

The video shows a black sedan pulling up to a curb with a white car stopping next to it. The driver’s side door of the black car opens and a person gets out of the white and runs to the black car’s passenger side. There was screaming and the sound of three gunshots was heard.
The shooter went back to the white car and fled. A third person, the driver of the black car, remained at the scene.
The whole deadly incident happened in a matter of seconds.
The victim was identified as Lili Xu, 60, a dentist who lived and worked in Oakland.
Oakland City Council President Nikki Fortunato Bas said the crime began as an attempted robbery.
“What does it say about our community when we cannot walk down our own street, visit a neighbor, or enjoy a picnic on the lake on a Sunday afternoon? We can and must do better,” she said in a statement.
