Shots have been fired on the scene of a barricaded armed suspect in Gilroy.

According to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office, as of 6:30 p.m., the suspect has been taken into custody. The shelter-in-place issued for the surrounding neighborhood has been lifted.

The suspect was in the 3000 block of Dryden Avenue near Bishop Court. The sheriff’s office said that shots have been fired at deputies.

The emergency response and crisis negotiation teams were both on-site using de-escalation tactics to find a peaceful resolution, according to the sheriff’s office. Community members were asked to avoid the area if possible.
