A mother in Tulsa, Oklahoma was arrested by the police for rape charges after she threw a baby shower for her 12-year-old daughter impregnated by a 24-year-old man.

The minor, whose name remains confidential considering her age, gave birth in midtown Tulsa hospital last month.

“They walked in just like any other couple would, excited to deliver their newborn child,” Danny Bean, Tulsa Police spokesman, shared to FOX 23.

The baby’s father named Juan Miranda-Jara was caught by the police following a 911 report by a hospital staff. The suspect is facing first-degree rape charge.

“At the time, we received many questions along the lines of, ‘Where were the parents?’” the police said in Thursday’s statement.

The parent is not detained, police said, as the minor’s mom Desireee Castaneda was charged by the police with child neglect and allowing child sex abuse.

Police said the victim’s father is now behind bars and is facing imprisonment for 12 years for a separate first-degree rape sentence.

Allegedly, the family saw no illegalities in their minor child being subjected to sexual abuse by an adult.

“The investigation revealed that the victim’s mother and family members were aware of the relationship between the victim and Miranda-Jara,” according to the police. “The family permitted the relationship, and there are photos of the family throwing a baby shower for the victim and the suspect.”

The victim’s mother and the father of her child are both detained on $50, 000 bond. The Tulsa County jail records show that Castaneda is set to return Friday morning while Miranda-Jara’s next hearing is scheduled August 26. The rape suspect is also released with a hold request from an Immigration and Customs Enforcement, according to a FOX News report.

FOX 23 reported that the child is healthy and is with the 12-year-old mother under the state health officials’ custody.
