A search team that’s been looking for 16-year-old Kiely Rodni has found a body and a car in a lake. Rodni has been missing for more than two weeks.
According to Adventures with Purpose’s Facebook post, the car believed to be Rodni’s was found upside down and 14 feet down Prosser Lake. A body believed to be Rodni was found inside.
Adventure with Purpose has notified law enforcement but the identity of the body is not yet confirmed.
The Nevada County Sheriff’s Office confirms it is aware of Adventure with Purpose’s findings and had staff heading to Prosser Lake.
“We will provide additional information when it becomes available,” the Sheriff’s Office said Sunday.
Rodni was last seen near the Prosser Family Campground in Truckee, California shortly after midnight on August 6. She was believed to be attending a party with more than 100 minors and young adults.
On August 7, Rodni’s disappearance was treated as a possible abduction since her car, a 2013 Honda CRV, was also missing.
Over 14 agencies including, the California Highway Patrol, the FBI, Homeland Security, Truckee Police Department and the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office joined the Placer County Sheriff’s Office and the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office to help locate Rodni.
The agencies used different search methods, including helicopter aerial searches, motorcycles, ATVs, K9s, and even boats, to search nearby bodies of water.
A $50,000 reward was offered for any information that’ll lead to finding Rodni.
