Security guard killed at 7-Eleven Oakland identified

A security guard who was shot and killed at 7-Eleven in Oakland has been identified. 

James Johnson, 59, was shot and killed while on the job at the 7-Eleven located in the 2300 block of Harrison Street Friday. 

At around 10:15 p.m., officers and paramedics responded to the 7-Eleven and found the victim. 

Johnson was declared dead at the scene. 

According to the investigation, Johnson was trying to prevent an individual from stealing from the store. 

That individual pulled out a firearm and shot Johnson before fleeing from the scene. 

No arrest has been made in this case and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
