Suspect in Chinatown stabbing identified and arrested

Police identified the suspect in the stabbing at a business in San Francisco’s Chinatown on Monday. 

According to San Francisco Police Department, the suspect is 61-year-old Fook Poy Lai. 

On Monday, around 9:50 a.m. SFPD received a stabbing report on the 1000 block of Stockton Street. 

At the scene, officers found a woman with a stab wound. She was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. 

The possible suspect, identified as Lai, was detained at the scene. 

Lai was transported to San Francisco County Jail and was booked for attempted homicide, assault with a deadly weapon, burglary and parole violation. 

Police say that the investigation remains active.
